presented in flawlessly impeccable fashion by a professional and attentive staff in luxurious surroundings reminiscent of an ancient royal Thai retreat, then Sra Bua, in the Siam Kempinski Hotel is where your search ends.
I chose a set lunch (any one of three) although a la carte service is also an option.
My lunch began with three small plates of innovative appetizers: Squid and Prawn Chips, Soy Meringue w/ Roasted Cashew and Crispy Kaffir Lime Leaf Scented Lotus Root.
Did I say innovative? Let me add unusual and tasty.
The first course was perfectly seared Hokkaido Scallops w/ Tamarind and Lemongrass accompanied by sweet/spicy dressing that was simply lovely. My entrée was Five Spice Braised Pork Belly w/ Cracklings & Pumpkin, served with braising liquid so tasty as to yearn for its transformation into a consommé, which would complement the inventiveness of Sra Bua’s menu. Yet here, it was simply a surprisingly subtle flavor that enhanced and elevated perfectly braised Pork Belly.
A delicious and creatively presented Banana Cake w/ Salted Ice Cream and Caramelized Milk (served on a carved slab of wood) was a perfect finish to a wonderful luncheon.
One might consider a 1350 baht tariff as a bit pricey for lunch. But if consideration is to be given to quality preparation, inventive and attractive presentation and flawless service in quiet and elegant surroundings,
